Through the passage of time…

united by shared memories

Established in 1992 by Fadi Hamade, Flowers originally began as a visionary project encompassing both a restaurant and a bar, symbolizing our enduring commitment to the community. Fadi Hamade's inspiration for this venture was sparked during the 1991 U District Street Fair when he first glimpsed the location's potential. This marked the beginning of his mission to create an exceptional bar and restaurant. Hailing from New York, Fadi and his family embarked on the transformative journey that Flowers represented at the University District location. The meticulous crafting of the bar, the artful assembly of the kitchen, and the curation of a culinary and beverage menu that has satisfied our community for over three decades—all of this has been a testament to family-driven dedication since 1992.

Flowers was uniquely distinguished as the U District's most enduring establishment under the same ownership, pioneering concepts like a lunchtime vegan buffet that garnered a devoted following. Additionally, Flowers built its reputation on daily drink specials, including mojitos, margaritas, and mint juleps, each meticulously crafted with a commitment to unparalleled quality. The foundation of these concoctions rested on the use of premium ingredients—fresh mint and limes for the mojitos, and a daily creation of homemade sweet and sour for the margaritas.

Over time, Flowers became a touchstone for numerous generations. Parents and their children, distinct in age yet united by shared memories, all embraced Flowers during their collegiate years. The vibrant ambiance, infused with music and dance, created an inviting environment for a wide range of events, including fraternity and sorority gatherings. Countless celebrations, spanning Mother's and Father's Days, formals, graduation parties, and birthdays, all found a vibrant home within Flowers' walls.

As custodians of this cherished legacy, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community for unwavering support throughout our journey at the University District location. We look forward to the next chapter with great anticipation, and we invite you to join us at our new location (to be announced). To continue sharing and uniting, a curated collection of memorabilia is available online. Your steadfast support is genuinely appreciated.
